Recently my cell phone seemed to be a magnate for strange incoming calls. I’d be right in the middle of doing something when another call would come in with a ‘private’ caller id. It was annoying to say the least.

Not only that, but if I answered all of these calls it would eat up my minutes which made it even worse. Just who was this caller anyway? Some bill collector, or one of my college buddies? Maybe an old girlfriend was stalking me. I had to know.

I decided to do something about it. There are services that will actually dig up all the info for you on any cell phone number, but it costs around $14 to run these reports. I always try to get things done free whenever I can so I began searching all of the free sites. I tried entering the anonymous phone number that had been calling me, but it came back as ‘Unknown’.

It turns out that the phone number I was investigating came from another cell phone. If it was a land-line phone number, most of the free reverse phone lookup sites would have done the trick.

Since it was a cell phone, it made me wonder who called. I thought that it probably wasn’t some business or telemarketer since they usually don’t use cell phones. I kinda hoped it was the stalker- girl. This kind of turned the heat up on my quest, and now I really had to know.

After looking over half a dozen similar pay reverse phone lookup websites, I narrowed it down to 2, then compared them line by line and found out that WhoCalledMyCell.com offered the best package for the same price. I opted for the unlimited searches (for $39) instead of paying $14 for just one. I had a feeling I’d be needing to do this all over again soon, (considering I had been getting a lot of these type of calls recently).

So after I joined the service I ran my first reverse cell phone number search on the website. I must admit that I kind of felt like James Bond while doing this. I never knew this kind of service even existed. Anyway, after about 5 seconds it popped out a full report on the owner of that number, as well as the owner’s address, map location, and household information (like the names of the members). There was a bunch of other stuff in the report, but all I wanted was the name of the caller for now.

So who was it that called me?

In case you’re interested, it turned out to be some girl I had given my number to about 2 weeks past. I had forgotten all about it until I saw her name on the report. So I called her later that night, and found out that she had simply gotten nervous while calling me and hung up before I answered her call. We ended up going out soon after – (but that’s another story).

About the Author: I highly recommend that you use any of the free reverse phone number websites, but if that doesn’t work, you can try the one I found best at

whocalledmycell.com

. One final word of advice: If you’re going to give out your cell phone number – try to remember who you give it to. Enjoy.
